Words, Words, Words… If You Don’t Have Something Nice To Say, Don't Say Anything At All!
Is common courteously really all that common anymore? What about compassion and sincere kindness? I was so inspired the other day when I watched the movie about Dr. Patch Adams. He reached out to his patients with humor, compassion, and kindness. Yet sometimes it seems that we have forgotten what power words of humor, compassion, and kindness can have. So many people are so rushed and wrapped up in the stressful lives they lead, that now they wear blinders of intolerance and impatience. The sad thing is that it does not take a lot to make a difference. It just takes thought before speaking. Luke 6:31 says, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Matthew 7:12 speaks again to this by saying, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” What a powerful statement. Little words can make somebody’s day, or ruin their day. Words can lift somebody up that is suffering, or they can hurt somebody in a way that cuts so deep that the pain never goes away.
Today try this experiment. Put a big sincere smile on your face. Greet people with kind word and encouragement. Watch them change right in front of you. You have just shown them that you care. For many people you will be the only person today to shows them that they matter and that somebody cares. Reach out to others with kind words today. Think before you speak. Words can work miracles!
What Do YOU Say?
26 different letters
Countless numbers of fonts and words
Words that paint different pictures
Some whose meanings are obscure
Words spoken sincere with honesty
Words spoken selfish with deception
Twisted fiction and false fairytales
In the real end are empty illusions
Words written with true emotion
Flow with a melody that’s their alone
Giving a glimpse into someone’s heart
Looking through a window to their soul
Our faithful words are blessed wisdom
Bible scriptures speak heavenly truth
Exposing the world falsehoods and lies
God’s guide when they’re heeded and heard
There are authors in each of us everyday
As we choose to whom and what we say
Do we honor Him with what we express
Would we say it if He were next to us

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Funny how you would mention words today as your theme. Last night in my travels backwards I found an old song I had written and it was about satan pulling us away from the Lord. My mind became rivited on the word rebellion and how angry that makes God. Thanks Glo for these great words about words.
